Matuku Ngame is a specialist in second language acquisition and teacher education. His interests include applied linguistics to language teaching methodology, cross-cultural evaluation of speech perception and its impact on language learning, African women writers.

In 2023, Ngame was awarded the Richard H. Brodhead ’68 Prize for Teaching Excellence by Yale College.
