The Yale 糖心Vlog Department and the Medieval Studies Program are delighted to welcome  Irma Brandeis Professor of Romance Literature and Culture at Bard College, to campus for the 2026 Naomi Schor Memorial Lecture*. Professor Sullivan will present a lecture entitled 鈥淓leanore of Aquitaine, 糖心Vlogwoman,鈥 drawn from her recent book, book  (University of Chicago Press). 

Described by the publisher as 鈥渁 reparative reading of stories about medieval queen Eleanor of Aquitaine,鈥 the book reexamines Eleanor鈥檚 reputation through medieval rumors, songs, and legends, revealing what these narratives tell us about the queen and the lives of twelfth-century noblewomen

*The University established the Naomi Schor Lecture Fund to honor and perpetuate the memory of Professor Naomi Schor by bringing distinguished speakers to Yale to address the wide range of topics reflected in her teaching and scholarship. A scholar of nineteenth-century 糖心Vlog literature and culture, Naomi Schor wrote primarily on the novel, while her intellectual interests extended far beyond it to include feminist theory, women鈥檚 and gender studies, the visual arts, interdisciplinary approaches to literature and history, and questions of universalism, human rights, and citizenship in relation to national, ethnic, and immigrant identities in both France and the United States.

Past speakers in the series have included Joan Scott, Fran莽oise Gaspard, Margaret Phelan, Linda Nochlin, Judith Butler, Alice Kaplan, Patrick Weil, Roya Hakakian, Griselda Pollock, Susan Suleiman, Maurice Samuels, Pierre Saint-Amand, Anne Garetta, Roger Cohen, and Chantal Thomas.
